1st Big Boy Dinner

video

If a picture is worth 1000 words then a video must be 1,000,000. Here it is caught on camera: Costello's first bites of "big boy" foods. He was showing all the signs that it was time for foods so we started him on rice cereal. It's been 3 days now, and the whole process is much easier and a tad cleaner, but we still get food EVERYWHERE. We've even had a few straight to the tub afterwards dinners, but I think he's starting to get the whole open mouth insert spoon concept. It's very cute.

Gettin Wet

We didn't get too wet in the pool, mainly because it was only about 5 inches deep, but we still had a good time. It was a really hot afternoon, so Costello enjoyed the cool off. Note to self though, cloth diapers in pools are like anchors on babies.

Fun Times at Folk Festival

Last weekend we headed to Calgary Folk Music Festival on princess island park. We had a rockin time. Our tickets allowed us to come and go for the day. We arrived just in time for a picnic lunch with Costello. After a bit of baby air guitar, we checked out the grounds. Such a great event.

There's at least 3-4 stages of live music going on constantly, plenty of kids attractions, very eco friendly grounds, yummy food, it was all there. Later Brian and I returned without Costello for our date night. Thanks to Lori for babysitting. It doesn't get any better then an evening with the glow of the city lights while listening to live music in the park.

Costello's Baptism

CLICK HERE FOR MORE BAPTISM PICTURES

Oh holy day...Costello was baptized last Saturday, July 11th during the 5:00 Saturday evening mass. After a napless afternoon, we were worried he wouldn't be to keen on the big event, but he was an angel. Didn't cry and lots of smiles. Grandparents were in from Michigan, as was his Godfather, my cousin John Jansen and his bride-to-be Jessica. We are honored to have Lynn, Brian's sister, as his Godmother. After mass the celebration continued at our place. The weather cooperated allowing for beer, bonfires, and a summer dinner, (thanks to my Dad for the yummy food) on our back deck which continued long after Costello went down for bed.

Costello was baptized in a Hansen family heirloom. The gown he wore dates back to Brian's grandmother, all of her grandchildren wore it, and now all the great grandchildren are continuing the tradition.

tummy time

now isn't that cute?

baby proof doooo

I know it's pretty common for new moms to chop off the ol' hair, but hey who can blame us? My criteria going into this was...
- hair-pulling proof
- short but feminine
I have to say, I love it!!!!! Costello can no longer tug away and cause me pain, plus it's super easy to style, and I still feel girly.

Banff with the boys

When Calgary gives you a wonderful sunny spring-almost-summer day, what else do you do but go to Banff. This past Saturday that is exactly what we did. The weather was perfect, Costello was fully rested, and our picnic basket packed. Unlike past trips to the mountains, when one travels with a baby, the itinerary changes slightly. Shopping is replaced with strolling and hiking now comes with a baby bjorn.

Although Costello slept through our puffy blanket picnic lunch, and walk in the park, he did seem very interested in his surroundings. The mountain air is addicting.

At the end of our adventurous day, we were all exhausted. Now that is how you take advantage of the moment.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day...I have to say, I love being a part of the "club" I was fully rested to enjoy the day after Brian, as part of my Mother's day gifts, took on baby duty last night. I enjoyed 12 hours of nonstop sleep. First full night since Costello came home. We spent the day at Grandma and Grandpa Hansen's with the family. Costello and his four month older cousin James were busy plotting future shenanigans, lil' pranksters. A day dedicated to Mom's...and to mine, I love you, happy Mother's Day.
