Fall Day

Fall is still my favorite season. It's sort of the kick off to the holidays, hot chocolates, and snow days. I'm looking forward to the day when Costello learns just how much fun a pile of leaves can truly be.

Turnoff Turnips

video

Not quite sure Costello is ready for turnips. He did however quite enjoy the mash potatoes.

Meeting Great Grandma

video

Today is US Thanksgiving, and what better way to celebrate family then posting a video of Costello's first glimpse of his Great Grandma Magnor. Grandma is a very special person in my life and will continue to be in Costello's. We love you Grandma!

No Time for Shopping

video

Last summer we spent some time in Chicago and tested Costello's interest at TJ Max. We are pretty confident in stating that the official record for fastest time down the sweater aisle while pushing a 6 month old in a shopping cart has been set.

our lil' pumpkin

Every year Brian carves pumpkins for all of our nieces and nephews. This is always followed by wine and roasted pumpkin seeds for the adults. Costello's too young for seeds the wine, but he loves the insides goop.

Fun in the Sun

Brian had a 2 week work stint in Clearwater Florida. So what better idea then for mom and baby to join and keep him company. Upon arriving we first set ourselves up, unpacking the multitude of extra bags one carries with themselves when traveling with baby. There's the pack n' play, the exercise mat, the diaper changing station, the bottle organization, and the list goes on.
The next day I planned a list of must sees and adventures for Costello and I during the days while Brian worked...I know poor Brian...don't worry he joins us later for a beach day.

My first "failed" attempt at the beach was without hubby. BIG mistake. After quickly realizing that my nifty stroller does not wheel in sand, my plan to pile everything on it and push all to water front quickly failed. This followed by my attempt to collapse stroller, lug everything while carrying baby across burning sand at 90+ degree heat, did not help the matter. I had enough time to lay out my towel, calm down screaming child, and hide my face in embarrassment. The whole experience lasted maybe 15 minutes and we decided to return to the pool. Take two to the beach, this time with Brian, was a success. He took care of getting us set up, beach umbrella and all, and the 3 of us enjoyed ourselves until Costello decided to eat sand and drink salt water. All and all at this age, stick with pools.
We had a great time in Florida.

1st Big Boy Dinner

video

If a picture is worth 1000 words then a video must be 1,000,000. Here it is caught on camera: Costello's first bites of "big boy" foods. He was showing all the signs that it was time for foods so we started him on rice cereal. It's been 3 days now, and the whole process is much easier and a tad cleaner, but we still get food EVERYWHERE. We've even had a few straight to the tub afterwards dinners, but I think he's starting to get the whole open mouth insert spoon concept. It's very cute.

Gettin Wet

We didn't get too wet in the pool, mainly because it was only about 5 inches deep, but we still had a good time. It was a really hot afternoon, so Costello enjoyed the cool off. Note to self though, cloth diapers in pools are like anchors on babies.

Fun Times at Folk Festival

Last weekend we headed to Calgary Folk Music Festival on princess island park. We had a rockin time. Our tickets allowed us to come and go for the day. We arrived just in time for a picnic lunch with Costello. After a bit of baby air guitar, we checked out the grounds. Such a great event.

There's at least 3-4 stages of live music going on constantly, plenty of kids attractions, very eco friendly grounds, yummy food, it was all there. Later Brian and I returned without Costello for our date night. Thanks to Lori for babysitting. It doesn't get any better then an evening with the glow of the city lights while listening to live music in the park.
